Forestry mulching is our specialty at Wall Land Solutions. A mulching head grinds overgrown brush and small trees into mulch right where they stand. The mulch stays on the ground as a cover layer. It is the main tool behind our land clearing in Toccoa and across Northeast Georgia.
Landowners and realtors call us to open up overgrown lots and acreage. Farmers call us to win back fields and woodlots. We are based in Toccoa and work about 60 miles around it. Call or text (678) 776-8002 for a free estimate.
Tell us what needs clearing and where the property is. We look at the job and give you a free estimate in writing.
A forestry mulcher is a heavy spinning head that mounts on a machine. It grinds privet and briar thickets into mulch, along with the saplings and small trees in them. What is left is a mulch layer on the ground. The trees you chose to keep stay standing.
We run two of them. One rides on our track loader, a skid steer on tracks, for lots and open acreage. The other sits on the end of our mini excavator's arm. It reaches steep banks and ditch lines where the loader cannot go.
Mulching suits long, narrow ground as well, like roadsides and old rail beds. Our forestry mulching work includes a rails-to-trails clearing near Tallulah Falls. When the big trees stay and only the undergrowth goes, the job is underbrushing.
Left alone, an old field grows back in stages. A Forest Service summary of old farm fields in Georgia's Piedmont lays out the pattern. Grass comes first, and then blackberry briars and shrubs thicken. Loblolly and shortleaf pines grow up through them, and hardwoods replace the pines as the woods age.
Privet adds to the tangle. The Georgia Forestry Commission says privet is common across all of Georgia. It forms dense thickets in fields and under the woods. It spreads by sprouts and by seeds that birds and other animals carry.
Kudzu takes the open edges. The same guide names roads, rights-of-way, forest edges and old fields as its favorite ground. In prime conditions, a vine can grow more than a foot a day. Our kudzu removal work knocks it down with the same mulching heads.
Clearing with a dozer usually means pushing brush and trees into piles. Those piles then get burned or hauled away. Forestry mulching grinds the same growth where it stands and leaves the mulch on the ground.
In Georgia, a land clearing burn needs a permit from the Georgia Forestry Commission. Georgia EPD also bans burning yard and land clearing debris from May 1 through September 30 in 54 counties. Hall, Jackson, Lumpkin and Banks counties are on that list. Your county Forestry Commission office answers questions about a burn on your land.
Mulching turns the brush into ground cover, so the work can go ahead during the summer ban. Planning a house? Our site preparation work mulches the house spot and the drive and keeps the mature trees you want.
