Land grading turns rough ground into a smooth, level surface you can use. Our track loader grades pads and yard areas. It also fills the washouts and ruts that rain cuts into bare ground.
Grading often follows forestry mulching, once the brush is down. We also handle general skid steer work, like spreading gravel or fill dirt you have delivered. Land grading is one part of our land clearing work in Toccoa and across Northeast Georgia, about 60 miles out. Call or text (678) 776-8002 for a free estimate.
Tell us what needs clearing and where the property is. We look at the job and give you a free estimate in writing.
Clearing takes the brush off, but the ground under it is rarely ready to use. It often has bumps and low spots, and the slope may send rain the wrong way. Our track loader cuts the bumps down and fills the low spots. Then it smooths the surface so rain runs off.
A pad is a level spot of ground for a building or a slab to sit on. We grade the pad level and smooth. If a slab goes on top, a concrete contractor pours it. Yard areas get the same work over a wider space.
Many jobs also call for gravel or fill dirt. You order it, and a supplier delivers it to the site. Then our track loader spreads it and grades it where you want it.
Under the topsoil, much of the ground around Toccoa is red clay. NRCS soil maps mark about half the ground near town as already eroded. When rain runs across bare clay, it cuts ruts and carries soil downhill.
We fill the washouts and grade the ruts out with the track loader. Grass or a mulch layer on freshly graded clay helps hold it in place. Where a ditch line has filled with clay, the mini excavator cleans it out as part of our excavation work.
Runoff from graded ground heads for the nearest ditch or creek, and it carries clay along. Georgia's erosion law sets a buffer of at least 25 feet along most creek banks, and grading there is restricted. Inside Toccoa, the city issues land disturbance permits. In the rest of Stephens County, erosion plans go to Georgia EPD.
General skid steer work covers the smaller dirt jobs around a home or a farm. We move a pile of fill dirt or smooth out a rough patch of ground. If you are not sure a job fits, call or text and describe it.
Our land grading is light grading with a track loader. Engineered grading plans come from an engineer, and large cut-and-fill earthwork calls for bigger machines. Retaining walls and concrete belong to other contractors, and hauling dirt in or out is a separate trade.
A washed-out gravel drive is its own job, covered under gravel driveway repair. On a new home site, grading often follows site preparation once the lot is open.

(678) 776-8002From the first call or text to the finished work, here is how it goes.
Call or text (678) 776-8002 and tell us where the land is. Say what has grown up on it and what you want done.
We set a time to come out and see how thick the growth is and how the machines get in. Georgia 811 does not mark private lines, so show us any line to a barn or a well.
You get a free estimate in writing that lists the work and the trees that stay. The job starts when you say go.
The track loader and the mini excavator go to work with their mulcher heads. Brush, briars, vines and small trees are ground down where they stand.
The mulch stays on the ground as a cover over the soil. You are left with open land you can see across and use.

We mulch grown-over fence rows and right-of-ways back to open ground. The mini excavator reaches the roadside banks and ditch lines the loader cannot.
Learn MoreBrush, briars, vines and small trees are ground into mulch where they grew. That layer covers the soil, and nothing has to be burned or hauled away.
We can mulch out the brush and saplings and leave the big trees you want to keep. The woods open up so you can see and walk through them.
We come look at the property before we put a price on it. The estimate spells out what gets cleared and what stays.
